14 Ways to Love Who You Are on Valentine's Day

It doesn't matter if you have a boyfriend, fiance, husband, or not. This Valentine's Day celebrate by loving yourself. Women's magazines will tell you that he'll love you if you bake him cookies, look like Scarlett Johannsson or contort your body into a sexy human pretzel. But, my beloved beauties, they are sadly mistaken. Men will love you only after you love yourself first.

Almost every girl struggles with self confidence, but today you should feel great about yourself! Here are 14 ways to love who you are!

  1. Embrace your beauty marks. Cindy Crawford became famous for it.
  2. Think positive thoughts, even when you're having a bad day.
  3. Walk faster! Walking 25% faster will make to you look and feel more important.
  4. Speak up. Don't let your voice fall silent. By making an effort to speak up at least once in every group discussion, you’ll become a better public speaker, more confident in your own thoughts, and recognized as a leader by your peers.
  5. Make the gap between your two front teeth chic, like Georgia May Jagger and Madonna.
  6. Dont' cover up your freckles! Marsha Brady tried to do it with lemon juice. I'm not sure if it ever took, but realize that your freckles are fabulous!
  7. Love your race. Don't be ashamed of your heritage and don't let anyone slow you down because of their prejudices.
  8. Hang out with your best friend. You need friends to help you through those rough times, and she's always been there for you!
  9. Enjoy chocolate without guilt. If you're struggling with weight, don't worry about it today. Have a piece of chocolate or two!
  10. Go for a long walk. Excercising releases positive endorphins. It might take you a minute to get motivated to go walking, but once you do you'll feel better after!
  11. Be thankful. We are a blessed country. You aren't going to bed hungry. You have a roof over your head. Life is not that bad. Look at what you do have, instead of coveting what you don't have. Chances are, you have more than you think!
  12. Paint your nails. It sounds ridiculous, but take the time to pamper yourself a little bit today. Give yourself an at-home manicure. When I pay attention to little beauty details like painting my nails, I always feel so much better!
  13. Love your size. Marilyn Monroe's size has been debated for decades, but whatever her true size is... who cares? Love who you are.
  14. Write yourself a love letter. Sounds cheesy, I know. But take time today to write down positive things about yourself. We women spend so much time (me especially) beating ourselves up more so than praising our good attributes. Maybe its our inclination to think of it as vanity, but really it's just self confidence!

Challenge yourself to do at least one thing from this list, and tell me what it is below!

Do You and Your Partner Fight Over Money?

For a 25 year old, my boyfriend has a fantastic salary that is pretty close to six figures a year. On the other hand, I have the salary of a poverty stricken college graduate who's still searching for that dream career in a frighteningly unforgiving economy. When I told my beau my hourly wage, he laughed and thought I was joking, which led to an argument stemming from my own insecurities about not being as successful as I had planned to be at 24. And even though I have always tried to keep money and finances out of our conversations, it always pops up.

I hate to put a damper on your forthcoming Valentine's Day activities, but money is one of the top reasons couples argue. It's also a major source of ending relationships. Differences in salary and/or differences in spending habits create a power imbalance in a relationship, and we're all too familiar with the phrase "Money is power". But just because a financial power imbalance exists, doesn't mean you can't overcome it.

As a couple, you should learn to evaluate your financial differences so that your relationship can strengthen in the long run. Talk about your differences, don't nag or yell. Learn to develop a spending plan and how to trim expenses as a couple during your financial discussion. Develop a plan that works for both of you, whether you are the spender or the saver in the relationship.

Just be careful with your financial differences. According to the New York Times, couples who argue more about money have a higher chance of getting a divorce. By talking it out, you can avoid your relationship ending in disaster.

This Valentine's Day, if you or your partner don't have the money for an elaborate romantic evening out, find less expensive alternatives. A dinner at home is much better than an argument over a pricey dinner. You can also forgo giving Valentine's Day gifts, which my boyfriend and I have decided to do.

There are several alternatives to working out your financial differences, you just have to find what works for you.

First Date Beauty Routine: What's the most important step?

Is your beauty routine causing you first date jitters?

Naturally, everyone wants to look flawless on a first date, because (let's face it) you've already got a winning personality. Of course, beauty routines vary from occasion to occasion, but a first date beauty routine is always important. You might give yourself a mani and pedi or try a new updo. Either way, you're paying close attention to the details because you want to look like a total bombshell when you meet up with your special someone.

When it comes to a first date, my legs absolutely must be cleanly shaven. In fact, even though I've been off the market for over a year now, I like to have smooth and silky legs every time I see my beau.

If you only had time for one step in your first date beauty routine, which step would you choose?

Charlotte Russe Releases Valentine's Day Line with Gossip Girl Stylist Eric Daman

Charlotte Russe is kind of like Jessica Simpson or the Mandy Moore of the early 2000s. You know, when it was all between Christina and Britney, no one really paid attention to Mandy or Jessica--at least not until much later in the decade when Mandy was dating Andy Roddick and Jessica was famous for not having any wit on The Newly Weds. Like those struggling pop singers, I feel like Charlotte Russe gets lost in the battle between H&M and Forever 21--the Britney and Christina of fast fashion chains, so to speak.

But ever since Charlotte Russe teamed up with Gossip Girl stylist Eric Daman things have really been looking up for them. Eric Daman's second dress collection for Charlotte Russe is uber fabulous, and it all comes in the form of lovely Valentine's Day dresses. Not to mention, they have a new site design, which is even better than their old one, which I thought looked similar to Forever 21.

So Eric, if you're out there somewhere, you're doing a fabulous jump getting budget-savvy beauties pumped up about another successful fashion chain. I absolutely adore the collection!

Keep reading to see the entire collection!
