You Can Get a Runway Manicure from Walgreens

You never thought I'd say that did you?

Well, it's true. I'm not sure when it happened or how, but last week when I was at Walgreen's I stumbled upon the mother load of nail polishes. There, in a pretty little display, was essie nail polish. I did a double take.

And for the second year in a row, essie is back at Fall 2012 Mercedes Benze Fashion Week doing manicures for DKNY, Tory Burch, and Carolina Herrera, just to name a few.

"I've always said that color is the ultimate accessory for women," says Essie Weingarten, the founder and creative director behind the iconic brand. "So our partnership with so many amazing designers during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week continues to thrill and inspire us. Not only is it the perfect collaboration for essie as a fashion-forward brand, but I love that we're giving women everywhere their first look at what's coming next from the industry's best."

And I'd like to thank Essie Weingarten for making her polish accessible to all. I, like most small town girls, live in a town where there's a Walgreens on every corner. (For my New York beauties, that's comparable to seeing your beloved Duane Reade's on every block.)

essie manicurists created pretty stellar looks on the runway last year. I was particularly smitten with this Morrocan inspired manicure created for Pamela Love's Spring 2012 show. It's easy and simple enough to recreate at home.

You can get this runway look by painting the entire nail with essie 'topless and barefoot,' an opaque matte nude, as the base for the look. Let dry completely. Using essie’s 'little brown dress,' a chocolate brown shade, paint at a diagonal from each corner of the nail bed to the tip to create a triangular shape. Start at the left side of the nail, brushing up to the middle on the diagonal. Do the same on the right side to finish the “V” formation.

If you're excited as excited as me that you can get a runway manicure from Walgreens, lemme hear you say, "yeah!"

10 DIY Halloween Manicures from Celebrities, Models, and Bloggers!

For some reason, I'm so much more into the Halloween spirit this year. I don't even think I'm celebrating this year (I've procrastinated way too long to get a cute costume by now), but I'm really loving the holiday's gothic inspired fashion and beauty--which is precisely what brings us to these fabulous Halloween manicures that are simple enough to DIY.

Halloween brings with it orange and black, candy corn, and vampire teeth, but stepping outside the box, these manicures are practical and stylish enough for year round wear. Featuring blood red manicures to black on black French manicures, I gathered my favorite manicures from Lady Gaga to the Ruffian runway to your everyday beauty and style bloggers. So check out the gallery below and get creative!

Check Out These "Spooktacular" (Sorry, I had to say it!) Ways to Use the Runway for Halloween Costume Ideas!

Halloween is fastly approaching, and just like prom night, you don't want to be caught dead wearing the same outfit as someone else! (Which happened to be twice by the way!) Anyways, you can opt for a route that most people wouldn't think of--use the runway! You can be a chic sailor, a la Dior, or Karl Lagerfeld himself... or something entirely different alltogether! After all, the Naughty Nurse, Sexy Referee, and the Playboy Bunny are a bit played out, don't you think?

There's no reason why you can't make your Halloween costume a little more stylish and a little less slutty, right? (Seriously.)

5 of Best Looks from the 2012 Resort Collections (and How to Steal the Look for Less!)

The Resort Collections are typically my favorite of the year. Designed with only the uber rich in mind, resort collections are full of practical yet whimsical fashions. Resort 2012 focused on colorblocking, varsity chic, exotic prints, and so much more that I decided to compile five of my favorite looks along with how you can copy the look for much less. Think of it as your own personal Resort Collection, for a fraction of the cost! And then you just might be able to indulge in your own fancy vacation!

Pajama-Fabulous, All Day Long

As a fashion-obsessed beauty on a budget, I never shy away from a challenge, and the pajama-inspired trend is the style challenge for spring. You might shy away from the trend, but fear not, beauties, and don't be intimidated. I believe in finding style for every occasion, so no matter what you have planned, you can easily take these looks from the boudoir to the streets.

You've seen pajama dressing on the runways via the likes of Vena Cava, Michael Kors, and Alexander Wang. But for this style challenge, Sarah Jessica Parker was my muse. In the first Sex and the City movie, Carrie Bradshaw sports a glam fur coat over her pajamas during a midnight run to Miranda's house. She looks so fabulous, it's a wonder that this trend didn't catch on earlier.

When you are about to embrace this style challenge, keep a few things in mind. Try to create a loose silhouette, but don't let it get excessively baggy. Satin, silk, jersey, and other drapable fabrics are ideal. Printed harem pants or cropped trousers will easily complete this look, especially since they will cinch in your waist. Channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw and add something glamorous, like a fur jacket or sequin beret.

From top to bottom, left to right: High Waisted Floral Pants ($26.00 at Forever 21); Sparkle & Fade Animal Pegged Trouser ($49.00$14.99 at Urban Outfitters); V-Neck Short Sleeves Rosette Rhinestone Satin ($44.00$29.99 at Macy's); Satin Capsleeve Top ($22.80 at Forever 21); ASOS Leather Bow Glove ($25.86$20.69 at Asos); All Over Sequin Beret ($4.50 at Forever 21); Faux Fur Coat ($49 at Forever 21).

Best of 2010: The Best Fashion Trend

From clogs to velvet, 2010 saw a myriad of fresh, diverse trends. What trend was your favorite? Utilitarian and military chic! From Balmain to Louis Vuitton, warrior chic embellishments like chains, gold buttons, and even glammed up camo marched onto the runways this year. Thankfully, those bulky cargo pants haven't seen a resurgence just yet (we still love our skinnies!), but parkas, trench coats, and lace up combat boots are definitely welcome in our closets.

Take a look at some of the best military chic looks and items under $100!

70s Inspired Fashion: Love It or Loathe It?

It is often that trends are revamped and revised from prior decades. In fact, sometimes these resurfaced trends are the basis of a season's most popular styles. So I wasn't too surprised when the bell bottoms, maxi dresses, and whimsical prints that were popular in the 70s resurfaced on the Spring/Summer 2011 runways. But I was a little disappointed that this decade was being revived.

The 70s styles have their hits and misses. I love maxi dresses, but I'm not ready to trade in my skinnies for bell bottoms. Mostly, I'm just ready to see something new and imaginative on the runways. We've revived every decade dating back to the 20s. It's time for us to create something new. I'm ready for a fashion awakening. It was monumental when Dior created New Look in the 50s. Will we ever see something new like that again or have we created everything under the sun already?

On the runways we saw bell bottoms, maxi skirts and dresses, floppy hats, and wild prints in some of the collections. I love the floppy hats and big sunglasses that were popular during the 70s. I'm also a fan of most of the 70s prints. However, I questioned the fabulousness of the Marc Jacobs and Topshop pieces (see below). Who knows, maybe next summer I'll be ready to rock a pair of bell bottoms, but for now, I'm not so sure.

Below are some 70s styles that were spotted on the runway.

Dolce & Gabanna S/S 2011

Marc Jacobs - Runway - Spring 2011 MBFW

Topshop Spring/Summer 2011

Whether bell bottoms come back in style or if skinnies are here to stay, I want to know your opinion of the 70s revival: Love it or Loathe it?
