The Perfect Pout for Valentine's Day

It's time to get your pout ready for Valentine's Day! To find the right lip shade for the special day, I took inspiration from the Red Carpet, and these beauties were spot on with their lip shade.

If you want something a little more natural, I suggest trying out Rooney Mara's elegant look or Pace Wu's peach lip. For Rooney Mara's look, I would try a soft pink lip liner and then, using a lip brush, dab on a hint of gloss. A great natural pink shade is MAC Cremestick Liner in Pink Treat ($15.00 by M·A·C at Dillard's). For Pace Wu's peach lip, opt for L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick, in Peach Fuzz ($8.95 by L'Oreal at drugstore.com).

If you want a bold pink lip, Gemma Arterton's look is absolutely stunning! I'm a huge fan on bold pink lip colors, and the shade she's wearing is no exception. Try the FOREVER 21 Crème Lipstick in Hot Pink ($2.80 at Forever 21.) It's a great deal, and it's a great match to Gemma's color!

Though I'm not the biggest fan of Kelly Osbourne's hair, I simply cannot get over this lip color. It's absolutely fantastic! It's bold and seductive, and let's not forget that red is a great shade for everyone. (If you aren't sure which shade of red is good for you, check out my guide on choosing the right red lipstick.) To get this look, search for red-blue lip colors, like MAC Lipstick in Russian Red ($15.00 by M·A·C at Dillard's).

Will you be wearing bold or bright lip color for Valentine's Day? Let me know in the comments!

5 Wearable but Colorful Lipsticks for the Average Girl

I'd say that most women I know don't wear lipstick on a regular basis, if even at all, and I'm totally guilty of being one of them. However, I attribute my lack of wearing lipstick on most occassions to two reasons: 1) I have extremely chapped lips and usually opt for chapstick instead and 2) I also want to kiss my fiance, without getting both of our lips overly sticky. Despite these conditions, I still try to wear color when I can, and when I do--it perks me right up! Plus, wearing lipstick can make you appear more awake and alert. That's reason enough to put on your favorite shade, right?

So for those of you jonesing for a beauty pick-me-up, I've rounded up five colorful lipsticks that anyone can wear!

From left to right: CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Delight ($6.99 by Cover Girl at drugstore.com); Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in Are You Red-dy ($7.49 by Maybelline at Ulta); SEPHORA COLLECTION Rouge Shine Lipstick in Just Dating ($12.00 at Sephora); Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in Pink Me Up ($7.49 by Maybelline at Ulta); and Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick-Kate Moss Collection in 009 ($5.19 by Rimmel at Ulta).

One Simple Thing You Can Do To Freshen Up Your Look

Lipstick is an easy choice, but I see so many women neglect it every day. Even I'm guilty of skipping out on the lip color and opting for chapstick, especially during the winter. But honestly, lip color is the easiest and most inexpensive way to freshen your look, which is why during a down economy women tend to buy more lipstick than clothing.

How can you use lipstick to freshen your look? Try different hues of fall's "it" color, oxblood. It's very vamp, along the lines of the dark and bitten look, but it's also glamorous.

Case in point: you're tired and you've just rolled into work wearing jeans and an oversized black tee. Becuase you overslept you have to throw your hair up into a topknot. If you add Milani Lipstick in Red Velvet ($4.49 at drugstore.com) to that equation and you just made yourself glam in an instant! Plus, you'll even appear to be more awake. Wearing lipstick will give the illusion that you spent time getting ready that morning, even if you only spent ten minutes.

Below are some amazing oxblood hues for the season. Click on items for more information.

Beauty Math: How to Pull Off This Runway Beauty Look

One thing that remained constant on the A/W 2012 runways was a bold lip paired with bare eyes. It's most certainly the easiest way to pull off a great bold lip color, and it definitely makes your lips the focal point of your beauty look. It's also the perfect way to add a pop of color to your otherwise neutral fall wardrobe, plus I think every girl could stand to wear more bold lip colors every now and then.

While there will always be be exaggerated and impractical beauty looks walking down the runways every season, this look is actually wearable for the street! Are you ready for some beauty math? Here's how to get that perfect bold lip! (Pssst! Don't be shy to try a darker or brighter shade of lip color with this look, too. A firey red-orange lip color will also do the trick!)

Suggested Products: Eyeshadow Pan - Cappuccino ($10.00 at DERMSTORE); Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Instant Definition Eye Shadow Palette, in Amethyst ($7.95 at drugstore.com); and L'Oreal Colour Riche Stars Lipcolour Lipstick, Eva's Caramel ($8.95 at drugstore.com)

Wait, THAT Lip Color is Popular for Spring?!

Deep red lip color is this spring's most unexpected trend! The color is usually reserved for fall and winter, but at the Met Gala Lana del Ray, Camilla Belle, and Kate Bosworth proved this lip color can be worn year round. I was a bit surprised a few weeks back when Scarlett Johansson wore a deep cinnamon colored lip for the Marvel Avenger's premiere in London, but it seems darker red lips are really catching on! I'm particularly smitten with the shade, and I think it's perfect for those hot summer nights!

Dark lipstick can provide a refreshing contrast to some of spring's biggest trends, like metallics and pastels. Camilla Belle paired her dark lipstick with a liquid silver gown and a sleek updo for a modern spin on 1920s style. But good luck trying to get her vampy lip! She used three different shades to create her own custom lip color.

You can, however, get the look for less at your local drugstore or department store. Here are three shades to try: Colour Riche in Classic Wine $9.49 by L'Oreal at WalgreensSEPHORA COLLECTION Rouge Cream Lipstick in Bewitch Me $12.00 at Sephora; or For something really intense try Revlon Super Lustrous Lipcolor $6.99 by Revlon at Ulta.

The Best Lipcolors Chosen by the Stylecaster Community!

Are you looking for a new lip color that will really recharge your beauty look? Right now, my current obsession is CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Embrace($6.99 at drugstore.com), but as summer draws near, I've been looking at new lip shades.

Of course, there's nothing like a few recommendations from your gal pals! That's why last week I asked the Stylecaster community what their favorite lip color is. Several helpful ladies came up with some really great shades, and they're all affordable.

From the Stylecaster community, here are their favorite lip colors:

"Just bought CoverGirl's coral-pink "fairytale" today! Pretty and cheap is the way to go ;)"

"Maybelline SuperStay 24 2-Step Color in Keep It Red 035 ($7.99 at drugstore.com)--- not the boldest shade, but it actualllyyy last through the workday! And this one is great for a bright, poppy, JCrew lookbook style: L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipcolour in True Red ($9.49 at Walgreens)."

"Hm, this Beauty High piece has some solid thought-starters. Check out the article here with two amazing lip color recommendations!"

"L'Oreal just came out with a great new line... they're half between a lipstick and a gloss and come in SO many shades. The line is called Colour Riche Balm... and they have SPF 15!! (See the L'Oreal Colour Riche Balm for Lips collection here at Walgreens.)"

"I love Cover Girl Blast Flipstick LipcolorI ($8.99 at Ulta) in "Perky Entrain." It's super-longlasting, pops with color and is EXACTLY what a girl needs when you're really pale. ;)"

"I like everything CoverGirl or Rimmel!"

(Me too, girl!)

And one of my favorite comments (because I'm so obsessed with a good lip moisturizer) comes from a guy!

"Im not one to wear lipstick but I think the best chapstick for men is Palmer's Cocoa Butter for sure."

If you're a blogger, definitely look into joining the Stylecaster community! I've been a fan of Stylecaster for a few years now, but their entire website and interface has completely changed--making it an indespensible tool for fashion bloggers and it has the addictive qualities of Pinterest.
