3 Easy Summer Hairstyles and How to Get The Look

If you're looking for the perfect summer style without all the fuss, try these three easy looks. Copied directly from the Spring 2011 runways, get the step by step directions for this summer's hottest styles!

Messy Side Braid

As seen in the Lela Rose Spring 2011 collection.

Begin this style by teasing your hair all over and spraying it with hair spray. I find this works best when you flip your head over, spray, and then ruffle up your hair with your fingers.

Pull your hair to one side and begin a very loose braid.

Messy is the look here, so if strands begin to pull away or fall out--let them! Secure with an elastic band.

Don't have an elastic band? Tease the ends together to secure the braid!

To make the braid look even bigger, gently pull the braid from the sides.

Teased, Side Part with a Barrette

As seen in the Rodarte Spring 2011 collection.

This is such an easy look to duplicate! Just ignore the tacky gold lipstick.

Create a dramatic side part using your fingers.

Blow dry the hair with a round, bristle brush. Tousle the hair with a volumizing spray.

For extra poof, spray with hair spray and lightly tease random sections of hair from root to tip.

Pull the front section of your hair over your forehead at an angle to simulate bangs (unless you already have them!).

Loosely secure bangs with a cute barrette!

Messy Side Bun

As seen in Daks Spring 2011 Collection.

This easy beauty look has been underrated in my opinion, but it's so easy to recreate and chic to wear! I usually wear my hair in a bun, but I haven't yet experiemented with a bun on the side, so this look is a great way to add a little variety to an everyday bun. If you already have your own way of creating a bun, just add a twist and pull it to the side. If you aren't sure how to do the bun, follow my steps below.

Loosely pull hair into a high, side ponytail. Take your ponytail and loosely wrap it around the elastic band.

To finish the bun, you can tuck the end of your ponytail into the elastic band, wrap a new elastic band around the bun, or secure it with bobby pins. I typically just tuck mine in.

Allow pieces to fall naturally, and add a headband to get the full look!
