Olivia Palermo is one of my favorite fashion icons. She is the master of mixing prints and she always finds a way to mix up her outfits while staying true to her style. This look was one of my favorites from Fashion Week, and I love that you could actually afford the pants she's wearing! As for the rest of the merchandise, I've scoured the web to find it for less!

Pants, Tummy Control Slim-Fit, Retro Rosebud Print ($49.00$19.99 atMacy's) and the Patent Messenger Bag ($29.80 at Forever 21).
Although I was out of the country for New York's Fashion week, that did not stop me from catching up with the shows when I got back. While I'm excited for fall and so ready to pull out my coats and chunky knit scarves (crossing my fingers it will get that cold in Mississippi this year), but it's also time to start evaluating my closet again and determining which summer pieces to keep for next year. Without further adieu, here's a review of trends that you'll want to take note of when you're cleaning out your summer wardrobe.
PEEK-A-BOO MIDRIFFS
Midriff tops are definitely in again for 2013, and just like this past summer they are usually seen paired with a high-waisted skirt. It's not about exposing your entire midriff a la Britney Spears in the "I'm a Slave for You" video. It's more about effortlessly revealing a classy yet sexy pop of skin and not looking like you're trying to hard to get unnecessary male attention. Keep your chic midriff tops (like the styles below), but in my personal opinion you can throw out those ultra-trendy, cropped neon muscle tanks.

REMINDS ME OF THIS FROM SPRING 2012:

NAUTICAL STRIPES
Nautical typically always hits big during the summer--so definitely hang on to those nautical inspired stripes! Bonus if you go for the whole "matchy-matchy" look, which is also on trend for next year.

SHEER PERFECTION:
It's sheer, dear, so keep it! I think sheer is another way to be sexy in the summer without exposing everything. So if you invested in any sweet sheer tops this summer, be sure to store them up for next year!

REMINDS ME OF THIS FROM SPRING 2012

The world has barely seen my fall 2011 wardrobe and already I'm obsessing over Spring 2012. What is it about fashion that makes me want to rush into the next season?
Paris Fashion Week brought with it a whirlwind of class, sophistication, and absolutely divine spring fashions. I love New York, London, and Milan, but Paris Fashion Week is what gets my bloog pumping and I've been watching fashion shows from Paris all week. There is something about that city... No matter who says London is the most fashionable city or New York or Milan, for me, it's always going to be Paris.
Take a look at my Top 10 Look from Paris Fashion Week.

Gap will be returning to its roots for Spring 2012 with classic, contemporary wardrobe staples. The retailer released their Spring 2012 collection earlier this week, and I'm happy to report that it's nothing short of fabulous... oh, and affordable!
Fashion Week might be over, but the excitement for Spring 2012 has just began! Next week I'll be rounding up some of my favorite trends from Spring 2012, showing you what you can keep until next summer, and more! Stay tuned...
So you live in Mississippi (like me) or anywhere else in rural America where evidence of style is scarce among the general public. There isn't a fashion show in sight, and your town didn't even celebrate Fashion's Night Out. So you're left at home coveting those fashion show attendees in New York City and scouring every fashion show snippet you can find on YouTube. (So now you know how I spent my Friday night...)
Maybe you can't be there amongst the excitement, but who says you can't emulate a little Fashion Week street style?
Beauties, I don't care if you live in rural Kentucky or on the Upper East Side... it's time to get dressed!

A lot of you northern beauties are still experiencing the bitter cold of winter, hence your Fall/Winter 2010-2011 attire, but here in the South, it's warming up rather nicely. Fall 2011 might be fresh on your minds, but remember those lovely Spring 2011 trends?

So you didn't get to go to New York Fashion Week. Hello?! You were on vacation in Belize or you were tired from attending all of those Grammy's after parties--or, like the rest of the world, you don't live in NYC/you couldn't get a ticket. Whatever your cause, that doesn't mean you can't dress like you went to Fashion Week! You might be overdressed wearing Jeffrey Campbell Litas and a fur jacket to your middle-of-nowhere-small town grocery store, but style knows no boundaries. And when someone asks why you're dressed like that, smile and say, "Are you kidding me? Every day is a fashion show!"
